Medication For Teen Depression, Anxiety And Phobias

The effect of Benzodiazepines: Generally, the medicines falling under this category will take effect immediately within hours and even lesser time will be taken by some of them. However, the time taken for action will differ from one patient to another. The patient might be prescribed to take medicines for two or three times a day, while some of them will be prescribed to take once in a day. Generally, the dosage is begun at a minimal level and raised gradually until the symptoms are removed or diminished. The dosage to be prescribed will vary as the body chemistry of the patient and his/her symptoms.

Side-effects

However, Benzodiazepines have some side-effects. The most common side-effects are loss of coordination or drowsiness and fatigue. These effects can make it dangerous to operate some machinery or when driving, particularly when a patient is just in the initial stages of taking the treatment. This medicine when taken for teen depression should not be combined with alcohol. This is because when combined with alcohol can create life-threatening complications.

Non- Benzodiazepines: Not only Benzodiazepines, but non- Benzodiazepines, Buspirone is used for generalized anxiety disorders. When it comes to phobias and panic attacks, anti-depressants are generally prescribed for these conditions. They are prescribed for generalized forms of anxiety, particularly when it occurs with depression.

So, Benzodiazepines are the most common medicines prescribed for , while anti-depressants are suggested for phobias.
